“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear...” (Psalm 46 v 1, 2)
God offers us His mercy
His beauty
His sanctity
To succour and refresh us.
His mercy is devotional.
His beauty is inspirational.
His sanctity is intentional.
We need not fear,
As God is so near,
He offers us Himself
In all the love of Jesus,
Love’s witness, our worship.
Exalt the Lord our God in Jesus.
Offer thanks from the heart
For all His goodness.
Mercy is God’s kindliness.
Beauty is God’s character.
Sanctity is God’s gift to us.
“The LORD of hosts is with us...our refuge.” (Psalm 46 v 11)
Reliable Father, we look to Your mercy amidst all manner and degree of man-made calamity, so troublesome to us. In mercy You overcome this wickedness, such devastation.
I ask for times of silent waiting from You, that we look up to You in Your beauty, for this is Your promise to us made by Isaiah,* (*see Isaiah 33 v 17) the prophet.
Let us call upon the Spirit of sanctity daily, so as to honour You, to praise You, to please You, Lord God of mercy, without which we would be lost.
May the Spirit lead us to appreciate and express thanks for all the good things You give us, calling us forwards to be attracted by the holy way of love. In the Spirit, by Jesus, we come to know Your grace and favour.
“Your law is perfect LORD, converting the soul. Your testimony is sure, making us wise. Your statutes are right able to rejoice us.” (based on Psalm 19 v 7, 8) How merciful this is.
How glorious are Your ways of mercy, beauty and sanctity, Lord. “Lord, I am not worthy...but only speak a word...” (Matthew 8 v 8) a word of mercy and our sinfulness is healed through Christ Jesus.
Guide us into the way of peace, according to Your mercy, Saviour Father of an extraordinary love, gifting us the Word of life in Christ Jesus. Show us Your purposes by this.
Grant us a heart that hears and obeys You, that we live in Your harmony always, looking to You for mercy wherever we go wrong and fall from You. Jesus died for such forgiveness.
Grant us too, the fullness of life Jesus won for us. By this mercy Jesus is not only alive, He is in the truth and wisdom You offer us. Amen.
